Vilarnau Cava was founded in 1949 near Barcelona, in the heart of Catalonia, in Sant Sadurnì d’Anoia, the capital of the origins of the name Cava. Cava Vilarnau were made very meticulously and almost entirely by hand in very limited quantities.

The effervescence and acidity typical of Cava Vilarnau derives from the particular location of the vineyards as well as their altitude (250 mamsl), which allows for a slower maturation process. Special attention is paid to the environment: ecologically sustainable processes are used in order to produce Cava Vilarnau.
